As we have previously discussed, recreating the look of upscale hotel bedrooms is extremely popular right now. Thus, it makes perfect sense to follow this approach through to other rooms in your home. This time we want to guide you through the layout for a hotel style living room and the formula is easy. We want a sleek looking environment that brings the focus into the centre, with no clutter. So we always start this design with corner sofas, as these hug the space and create consistent lines. Then we opt for one large coffee table, one over sized rug, and one contemporary chair and streamline the look with minimalistic art.

More specifically, the sofas we select are always neutral in colour, and are symmetrical, but if we are looking to bring in a pop of colour we do it on the additional chair. The chair is the perfect piece in which to bring in some whimsy, whether it be in shape or colour. The coffee table should be large enough to accommodate use by all those who sit on the sofa, but it should not be chunky. This would be juxtaposed to the overall style. The rug needs to be able to lie beneath all of the furniture, as most hotels have carpeting, so this will bring us closer to a true replica. To finish off the hotel living room design, choose paintings that are abstract, or simplistic.
